Produced between 1992 and 1995, the 968 was originally intended to be a further development to the Porsche 944 called the 'S3' however, when engineers and executives at Porsche realised that almost 80% of the car’s mechanical components were either modified or completely replaced, it became apparent that a new variant model should be introduced and the 968 was born.

This is a two owner, exceptionally well maintained example of a desirable performance orientated Porsche 968 Clubsport, featuring the rare Luxury Pack option. Produced for only two years, this stripped back 'no frills' version of the 968 was created to appeal to the track day or performance drivers. The Clubsport was released in a choice of only six colours (Grand Prix White, Black, Speed Yellow, Guards Red, Riviera Blue and Maritime Blue.) and, along with some suspension revisions, Porsche managed to make the car lighter by removing any unnecessary luxury equipment from the standard model. Items such as rear seats, electric windows or seats were no longer standard, they also reduced sound deadening material, airbags, battery size and general wiring. All in all, Porsche apparently managed to remove 100kg over the standard 968, allowing the car to accelerate from 0-60 in almost 6.3 seconds which is sporty even by today’s standards. In 1993, the 968 Clubsport won Autocar & Motoring magazine’s 'Best Car' award and research suggests that only 179 examples of the Clubsport were sold to the UK, making the 968 CS an incredibly sought-after car.

This particular example is presented in the ever popular and vibrant Guards Red paint against a black cloth interior. It has been built with the uncommon factory option of the Luxury Pack. This means it is one of the very few genuine CS’s that actually has rear seats, twin door speakers, electric windows, electric boot release and electric mirrors from the factory.

This effectively turns the car into a more practical specification, similar to that of the, UK only, 968 'Sport', before the Sport model existed and while retaining its Clubsport appeal. This is an incredibly rare and useable car for any Porsche enthusiast to enjoy. A very comprehensive provenance and history portfolio accompanies the car which includes the original driver’s manual, stamped maintenance book with no less than 19 entries and black leather Porsche wallet. The car is also presented with a Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche UK guaranteeing the originality of this genuine Clubsport. The car will come with a fresh MoT test certificate and a stack of the previous owner’s invoices, receipts and previous MoT test certificates to backup how fastidiously it has been maintained. Viewing is highly recommended as this car is presented in showroom quality and truly a wonderful example of a very rare and collectable Porsche.
