- Rare UK supplied GTA
- Uprated Q2 differential
- Two owner example with comprehensive history
The 156 GTA and 156 Sportwagon GTA were launched in September 2001, named after the Alfa Romeo GTA from the 1960s and abbreviated from Gran Turismo Alleggerita. The GTA was hand-assembled on a separate production line to the standard 156 models and continues to be highly sought-after by collectors as well as keen drivers due to its rarity, pedigree and Busso-designed engine. Very few GTA were sold, with righthand drive vehicles holding a premium over lefthand drive vehicles due to their rarity. Further, vehicles sold new in New Zealand and the United Kingdom hold a premium over other righthand drive markets such as Australia, Malaysia, Japan or Singapore due to more desirable specification with higher output engines.
Presented in Alfa Rosso Red with Nero Monte Carlo black leather seats, this rare example is believed to be one of only 11 UK Selespeed specification vehicles with only five still on the road and carrying GTA number 272. Fastidiously maintained by Alfa Owners Club member owners, the previous one owner and our vendor, this car was factory fitted with uprated 330mm front brakes, Xenon lights and electric sunroof. Unmodified from a standard, except for the addition of a Q2 differential and stainless steel exhaust, this example is offered with a comprehensive service history and has been well looked after by respected Alfa specialists NJS in Pershore and then by Keith Waite. The Alfa Romeo V6 Busso engine needs scheduled belt changes and frequent oil changes which this car has as well as an oil change every 6,000 miles using Selenia ‘Racing’ 10W/60 oil. This is coupled to a replacement clutch and cambelt in December 2016, new Pirelli Sottozero tyres last spring and a new battery in 2018, bills and receipts for all can be found within a service history that fills a ring binder and includes the owner's manual and paperwork. Our vendor used the car to travel between London and North Italy and has always proved reliable. The interior is in excellent condition with very little sign of use, even on the driver's bolster. Garaged since new and never used for track days, this is a fabulous example of a very collectable Alfa saloon.
