A new Bentley Turbo R model was introduced in 1995. Changes included Zytek fuel injection and appearance modifications. In 1996 production of the short wheelbase Turbo R ended, leaving only the model hitherto sold as the Turbo RL - now known simply as the Turbo R. For 1997, the Turbo R was replaced by the sportier Turbo RT. The Bentley Turbo RT was the last, rarest, most powerful and most expensive of the Turbo R line. The Bentley RT came with the 400bhp twin-turbo, 6.75 litre, V8 engine of the Bentley two-door Continental T installed. It is visually differentiated from other Bentley Turbo R models by its sport wheels, colour-coded grille slats and colour-coded bumpers. Performance was 'sufficient' with a top speed limited to 150mph; the ultra-luxurious Turbo RT was nearly as fast as the sporting German luxury saloons of the time. The car's base price was £132,000, roughly £40,000 more than the Turbo R and was made during 1997 and 1998 with only 252 units produced.
This last of the line British Bentley with 400bhp on tap is currently in the tenure of its fourth owner. This impressive car from Crewe is presented in the stunning colour combination of Sherwood Green and Sandstone. The car benefits from a huge level of specification including split level climate control air conditioning, electric seats, two stage heated seats, cruise control, original stereo with CD changer, electric windows and mirrors, heated mirrors, electric steering column adjustment, headlamp washers and 17" five-spoke RT alloy wheels. The 29 service stamps in the original service book pack and new Avon tyres are a testament to the level of care lavished on this car. Presented to auction with a V5C registration document and a new MoT test certificate, this late special-edition Bentley offers enormous value for money.
