The VW Beetle is a true icon of 20th Century motoring and occupies a significant position in the minds and hearts of drivers and enthusiasts across the globe. It is the longest running and most manufactured car of a single design platform anywhere in the world with over 21 million cars produced between 1938 and 2003. The '1300' model was launched in 1966 and provided the biggest one-time jump in power output - by a whopping 25% to 50bhp. The 1960's brought great strides in motorway development and VW's competitors were building ever faster cars to cover the tarmac. The '1300' was fundamental in ensuring that the Beetle was able to keep up with the modern pace. With tighter gearing and having been tuned for higher rpm, the nimble acceleration of the '1300' was more than a match for the later models in the form of the 1500 & 1600 and these characteristics have made the '1300' one of the most nostalgic and desired classic Beetle incarnations.

This Volkswagen Beetle with a 1300cc engine has had four previous owners and it is described by the present vendor as a solid and sound example. The fastidious previous owner had ensured any work carried out during his tenure was to the highest standard, the list of new parts fitted is comprehensive and includes a new clutch, shock absorbers, ball joints, drive shaft boots and ignition system, all fitted before the car was sold three years ago and placed in a private collection. A very comprehensive history file accompanies PRX 796F and the car is supplied with a V5C registration document together with an MoT test certificate which expires on 23rd May 2019. Finished in black with red trim, this lovely example is ready to be used and enjoyed at classic car shows, events or driving to the pub on Sundays; the perfect entry to classic car ownership.
