In the early 1970's, Porsche had designs on racing a turbocharged version of the 911 and the Porsche 911 Turbo or 930 was born. The 930 was introduced at the Paris Motor Show of 1974 and was the fastest production car available on the market. It was based around the Carrera RS 3.0, the engine from which was modified, courtesy of turbo technology. Initially, power output was 260bhp but from 1978, it was increased to 300bhp by raising the engine capacity to 3.3 litres. To accommodate the extra performance over the RS 3.0, the 930 sported revised suspension, larger brakes and a robust, four-speed gearbox. In order to help deliver the power to the road, a 'whale tail' rear spoiler was fitted and a wider rear wheel and tyre package was squeezed under flared arches. Adding this level of power to the already oversteer-prone handling of the 911 created a car that was not for the faint hearted. In skilled hands, however, a 930 will show a clean pair of heels to most of its rivals. The 1989 models were the first and last versions of the 930 to feature the G50 transmission, a five-speed manual transmission and are significantly more desirable for collectors and enthusiasts alike.

Originally supplied by AFN Porsche and registered on 22nd March 1989, this 911 turbo is presented in its original and highly desirable colour combination of Guards Red with black leather interior and has been under the stewardship of the vendor since 15th April 1992. Fitted with the desirable Getrag G50 five-speed gearbox, only found on the 1989 production year, the list of optional extras on this example include sport seats with electric height adjustment, Blaupunkt Toronto stereo with amplifier and a sunroof. A very original example and showing no signs of ever having had any paintwork, she even displays the AFN sticker in the rear window. This Porsche has been exceedingly well cared for with a comprehensive history folder and the original service books containing no fewer than 19 stamps, the last service being carried out on 8th May 2019 at 49,101 miles. The original owner purchased this Porsche through his company and then transferred ownership into his own name, thus making it a two previous keeper vehicle according to the V5, clearly though she has only had two actual owners from new including the current vendor. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate together with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity confirming the production completion date was 24th February 1989, this superb 911 turbo ticks every box, low ownership, low mileage and original condition.
