The Ferrari F355 was built from May 1994 to 1999 and was an evolution of the 348. It is a mid-engine, rear wheel drive, V8-powered, two-seat coupé. At launch, two models were available; the coupé Berlinetta and the Targa topped GTS. The Spider (convertible) version was introduced in 1995. One major difference between the longitudinal V8 in the 348 and that in the 355, apart from the displacement increase from 3.4 to 3.5 litres, is that the F355 features a five valve per cylinder head that is considerably more powerful, producing 375bhp. The nomenclature does not follow the formula from the previous decades, i.e. engine capacity plus cylinder number for example, the Ferrari 308 name comes from three litres plus eight cylinders, and same for the 328, 348, 512 etc. This time, Ferrari used engine capacity plus number of valves per cylinder, as they were proud to boast about this technological advancement, so the name 355 equals 3.5 litres engine capacity and five valves per cylinder.
This example was originally supplied by Forza S.R.L Torino, Italy on 18th March, 1997 to Mr. Andrea Usellini. Offered in Nero Black with complementary Cuoio Naturale hide, this is a well presented and desirable manual example. Purchased by our vendor in the summer of 2016, this car has seen a good level of care which includes original stamped maintenance with Forza in Torino, NEW O.R.A.M in Geneva and in January 2017 with Fiorano in London, at which point the belts were changed. Other works included GVE London fitting a new clutch to the car in late 2016. The history file boasts the original handbooks and stamped service booklet and accompanying this is the full original tool kit. Offered in what we think is the best colour combination for a F355 and with the desirable manual gearbox, this example is attractively priced from private ownership for collectors throughout Europe.
Interested parties should note that this car requires a new ABS ECU. The part has been ordered and the work booked in with the servicing garage. We are told this will be completed, subject to no delays, next week. The car can be collected or dispatched from Historics head office in Iver on Friday 8th March.
