Lot 101 - 1993 BMW R80 RT
|Odometer reading||88,233 miles|
|Result||Sold - £616|
The BMW R80 RT with a two-cylinder four-stroke 800cc boxer engine and shaft drive to the rear wheel was manufactured from 1982 to 1995. As a touring bike (RT for touring), it was equipped with a sweeping full fairing and a high windshield. The engine with 797cc and 50bhp power came from the BMW R 80/7. Between 1982 to 1984, essentially the RT was a slimmed down version of the 'bigger sister' R 100 RT.
This late mono lever BMW R80 RT is offered as a project or non runner. It was originally bought to cannibalise as a Cafe Racer and is now offered at no reserve. We are informed the engine was rebuilt and running very well prior to being stripped down for paint and before being stored. This 800cc example is presented in black and was first registered in August 1993. The R80 engine alone is valued circa £1,500 and we are told mechanically very solid, this would be an ideal project for restoration or indeed to use in Cafe Racer circles.
