Following the launch of the 911/996, Porsche launched the GT3, the first 996 variant intended for the track. Its 3.6 litre engine was derived from the GT1 and delivered 360 horsepower at 7,200rpm, offering 60 additional horsepower over the base 3.4 litre motor in the standard Carrera. It was also fitted with adjustable suspension and a unique body kit, including a dual-plane rear wing. The interior featured sports seats, whilst some of the interior trim was removed to keep weight down. Porsche also built a track only version of the GT3, dubbed the GT3 Clubsport. Only a handful of differences can be noted in comparison to the GT3, including the fitment of a full roll cage and a Nomex covered driver’s seat with side airbags omitted. Whilst not generally intended for daily driving, this edition was track-ready in every aspect and able to compete in a number of racing series worldwide.

This 2004 example of the iconic Porsche 911 GT3 Clubsport is presented in its Cobalt Blue coachwork and contrasting black, Clubsport interior. With four previous owners, this example comes with the standard Clubsport features and includes a full roll cage, fire extinguisher, Momo steering wheel, Recaro seats and, of course, the versatile and iconic naturally aspirated flat-six 3596cc power unit with a single mass flywheel mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The service book records eight stamps from both Porsche main dealers and also marque specialists, the last of which was carried out by Porsche Swindon on 10th March 2017 when the car had covered 42,291 miles. This GT3 is fitted with period upgrades which include Alcon front brakes, Manthey sports suspension (KWV3), a GT3 Cup differential, shifting cables and short shift kit.

With only 220 righthand drive 996 GT3s produced and with approximately only 50 in Clubsport form, this makes this GT3 a rare and desirable Porsche 911 in its own right. Supplied with a UK V5C and an MoT test certificate valid until October 2019, this fabulous Porsche is great value and is ready to be enjoyed immediately.
