The Porsche 911 is a luxury two-door sports coupé with a distinctive design, rear engine and independent rear suspension; an evolution of the swing axle on the Porsche 356. It has undergone continuous development although the basic concept has remained virtually changed. Throughout its lifetime, the 911 has been modified by private teams and by the factory itself for racing, rallying and other forms of automotive competition. It is among the most successful competition cars ever. In the mid-1970s, normally aspirated 911 Carrera RSRs won major world championship sports car races such as Targa Florio, Daytona, Sebring and Nürburgring, even against prototypes. The 911-derived 935 Turbo also won the coveted 24 Hours Le Mans in 1979.
DP Motorsport of Cologne are renowned for converting a relatively standard Porsche into something magical. This 935 is the only righthand drive example and presents in excellent condition, having covered only 23,910 miles from new. The DP Motorsport modifications are extensive and include strengthening the body together with front and rear suspension upgrades. The 3299cc KKK turbo charged six cylinder engine with competition cylinder heads and camshaft. The turbo intercooler and oil cooler are manufactured in stainless steel as is the DP Motorsport exhaust system. The turbo boost can be adjusted within the cabin area. A close ratio four speed gearbox is fitted as are ventilated disc brakes.
Supplied originally via Porsche UK in 1986, this incredibly rare 935 has a larger windscreen and single wiper blade as per the winning Le Mans Kremer Porsche. With only three former keepers, the current vendor has owned her for over 20 years and has enjoyed driving this 935 immensely. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 13th June 2019 together with a good history folder confirming the low mileage of 23,910 from new, this ‘flat-nose’ Porsche is a fantastic opportunity to purchase a unique and highly desirable example of an iconic car of the period.
