The Jaguar E-Type was manufactured between 1961 and 1975 and its combination of good looks, high performance and competitive pricing established the marque as an icon of 1960's motoring. The Series I was introduced, initially for export only in March 1961, the cars at this time used the triple SU carburetted, 3.8 litre six cylinder XK engine from the XK150S. The 3.8 litre engine was increased to 4.2 litres in October 1964 and was used until 1971 with the introduction of the Series III when the V12 engine was introduced. In 1968 the Series II car was introduced and can be recognised by its open headlights, wide 'mouth' air intake at the front of the bonnet and larger signal and tail-lights. The 4.2 litre engine offered increased power and usability whilst retaining the same outward appearance as the earlier cars.

The Heritage Certificate supplied with this car shows that it was originally silver grey with black interior but has had a colour change to an attractive dark red with cream interior.

As with many American imports, little is known of its life over there. The bodywork is not perfect with several marks, but the car presents well overall with good panel gaps. The hood fits well having been replaced in recent years and is in very good condition. Again, the interior is in good condition, though it has been re-upholstered at some point to cream leather. We are informed the car runs and drives well and is mechanically strong having just benefitted from a top end service. Manufactured and despatch within the first two weeks of November 1969 this lovely E-Type shows the incredible demand for these cars in the 1960s.

A matching numbers example, this iconic two-seater comes supplied with its V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate valid until August 2019 and Heritage Certificate.
