Launched in October 1964, the 4.2-litre version of Jaguar's sensational E-Type sports car brought with it a more user friendly all-synchromesh gearbox and a superior Lockheed brake servo along with the bigger, torquier engine. Top speed remained the same at around 150mph, the main performance gain resulting from the larger engine being improved acceleration. For 1968 the E-Type underwent major revision to comply with US safety and emissions legislation, emerging in 'Series II' guise minus the original's distinctive headlight covers. In addition, enlarged side and rear lights were adopted while a thickened front bumper centre section bridged a larger radiator intake. Interior changes included a collapsible steering column and rocker switches in place of the earlier toggles. Beneath the bonnet the familiar XK engine now boasted ribbed cam covers and, on cars destined for North America, twin Stromberg carburettors, replacing the previous triple SUs that remained standard on those supplied to other markets

This beautifully presented lefthand drive car was repatriated to the UK this year having been delivered to New York in May of 1969 and was owned by a Judge in Indiana for the past 14 years. The car was resprayed in 2017 in its original Jaguar light blue and benefits from a new mohair hood fitted in October 2018 at a cost of £1000. We are informed the car is running and driving very well having just had a service which included new front brakes and MoT.

The vendor states the engine starts on the button and ticks over very quietly with good oil pressure. This car also benefits from having a thick core aluminium radiator ensuring reliability and stress free motoring whatever the traffic conditions. The dark blue interior complements the light blue paint well and shows little sign of wear.  A stunning Jaguar E-Type that is a real head turner!

This matching numbers example has its NOVA letter of confirmation showing all tax and import duties have been paid and a period type registration has been applied for from the DVLA which will be with the car by the time of the auction. A current MoT test certificate valid until October 2019, Heritage Certificate, Indiana title and registration document and its Jaguar E-Type Series II handbook also accompany the car.
