Lot 207 - 1998 Porsche 911/993 Targa S
|Odometer reading||91,000 miles|
|Estimate||£45,000 - £55,000|
The Porsche 993 was introduced in 1994 as a replacement for the 964 generation of the iconic 911 and was built until 1998. Regarded by many as the best generation of 911's ever produced from Stuttgart, this car was the last to use the air cooled, flat six engine that had powered 911's for the previous thirty years. The 993 was offered in a number of guises and specifications during its production life included, as shown, a desirable and well-designed targa edition. This last-of-the-line model was just one of four in 1998 in this configuration.
Presented with a Tiptronic gearbox and that triumph of design; the modern targa roof as well as an impeccable service history, fully stamped and complete with invoices and an engine rebuild at 80,000 miles costing in excess of £8,000, it was decided, at the same time, to refresh the paintwork and so it was taken back to bare metal and restored costing £32,000. It is described as ‘stunning’ by the vendor. With over £10,000 of factory options fitted including electric seats, limited slip differential and six CD sound system, it is no surprise that Porsche Bristol requested to have it in their showrooms for the Porsche 70th birthday celebrations last year.
