1966 was the last year Ford offered the original Mustang Fastback although the Mustang had a stellar year in sales. The '66 model Fastback featured a redesigned grille, new instrument cluster and new styled wheels. An automatic gearbox became available for the V8. In addition, the GT featured side racing stripes which took the place of chrome rocker panels giving the vehicle a serious performance-racing look. Although other Mustangs in 1966 sported the Mustang Pony emblem directly behind the front wheel wells, the GT Mustang featured a special GT emblem in its place. One of the most distinct features of the 1966 Fastback Mustang is the car's exit vents, which work with the vehicle's fully functional 'silent-flo' interior ventilation system.
Assembled at the Ford plant in Metuchen, New Jersey on 18th April 1966 this award winning GT Fastback presents in stunning condition. The Raven black paintwork is superb with a deep rich shine and the black interior is equally impressive. The panel gaps and unblemished panels on this car need to be seen to be appreciated. The highly knowledgeable vendor has had this car meticulously maintained although she has been used little of late. With an engine that sounds superb and a gearbox that operates as it should, this GT Fastback is of the highest quality. The vendor has regularly attended shows where this Mustang has created an awful lot of attention. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a full years MoT test certificate this ‘A’ code factory GT Fastback is one of the best we have seen. The vendors attention to detail is remarkable to the point where he painstakingly sourced a set of ‘twin red stripe’ tyres to match the side stripes on the car.
