With design ahead of its time, this statement flagship, constructed by Matra, boasted luxuries galore including a multitude of safety features and advanced engineering. Highlights included unique double-hinged pillarless doors allowing easy access to the front and rear seats even when tightly parked, the world's largest opening glass sunroof of its time featuring strengthened heat-reflective tinted glass and theatre seating.

This top of the range three-litre, V6 'Privilege' was specified in metallic 'Sand' (an illusion paint which shows tones of blue, green and purple in differing lights) with silver aluminium roof rails contrasted with black leather upholstery. The first private keeper kept the Avantime for nine months before the car was purchased by a television producer in Jersey who ran the car for 13 years until July of this year. Serviced by Renault main dealerships throughout including timing belt changes at 31,000 and 51,000 miles, this car feel every bit as refined and nimble as it did when new. It also benefits today from a stainless steel exhaust system. We are informed that the car is a delight to drive with effortless power and a perfectly seamless transmission. The Avantime offers a hand finished statement that is now gathering a significant collectors following.
