Known internally as the 964, Porsche's new generation 911 debuted in 1989 and was available in two wheel (Carrera 2) and four wheel drive (Carrera 4) guises with its familiar silhouette clothing a radically revamped platform. Boasting a drag coefficient of just 0.32 thanks to its deeper bumpers, smoother sills and flatter floorpan, high speed stability was maintained by the self-deploying rear spoiler which rose above 48mph. Porsche claimed over 85% of it differed from its predecessor which was a significant step forward in the 911 evolution and represented one of the biggest advances in Porsche history. Powered by an extensively reworked 3.6 litre air cooled flat-six equipped with twin spark plugs per cylinder and a remapped Bosch Motronic fuel injection, the 964 claimed an impressive 250bhp and 229lbft of torque. Most variants were reputed to be capable of 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds with a top speed of over 160mph. Probably the most versatile air cooled 911 you can buy whilst still enjoying everyday use, the 964 had been almost disregarded in collector terms; but in the last 18 months, collectors and enthusiasts alike have now recognised the significant role the Porsche 964 has played in the evolution of perhaps the world's most recognised sports car silhouettes and thus prices and desirability have increased remarkably led by the ultra collectable RS examples.

This left hand drive 911 964 Carrera 2 is presented in black with black leather interior with the added iconic turbo rear wing. Originally supplied to Germany, this example was first bought to the UK in August 1998 and purchased by our seller in 2015. A non sunroof car, it is offered with the tiptronic gearbox and has been recently serviced by Porsche Specialists Porsche Torque with the last service in March 2018. Offered with a V5 registration document and MoT test certificate valid until March 2019, this is an ideal opportunity to own the now iconic 964 Porsche with the reassurance of recent specialist care. With 911/964 prices amongst the strongest in the 911 range, this could also represent a sound investment.
