When the director of design at BMW first saw the coupé version of the Z3, there was a long silence, not least because this was 'mocked-up' by a handful of dedicated designers during evenings and weekends. Like the GT6 and MGBGT, two acknowledged influences, this wasn't just a convertible with a hardtop. The entire chassis was redesigned, the roof lengthened, more power added (obviously) and finer, under the skin details, like cooling fins on the differential. The engine is the same 3.2 litre unit from an M3, an almost absurd amount of horsepower per unit weight.
With over 6,000 miles of testing at the Nürburgring, you can be sure this is well tested and up to the task of shifting you and a friend up to a (limited) 155mph and back down again equally quickly, all within the confines of BMW's legendary build quality. The M Coupé was voted by Top Gear magazine as one of 'the 149 Coolest Cars Ever'.
Originally registered on 1st March 1999, this Z3M Coupé is presented in silver with black on black leather trim and dark anthracite wheels. The colour combination gives a menacing look to this fabulous motorcar, very sought after by motoring purists and collectors alike. We are informed by the vendor that this car has a full service history and during his tenure, has exclusively sent the car to Mark at MJF Engineering in Dorking, whose reputation speaks for itself. Works have included welding and strengthening of rear diff mount/subframe on the first visit to MJF and full inspection for any of the common issues. A subsequent inspection 1, two oil services and an inspection 2 was carried out in July of 2017. Other modifications undertaken have included a replacement throttle cable and short shift gear lever. The car is described by the vendor as mechanically fantastic. With four new Hankook tyres less than 250 miles ago, an MoT certificate valid until July 2019 and such diligent ownership, this could prove to be a fantastic purchase for any BMW Z3M fan.
