We are delighted to offer this extraordinary Fiat 500 N (Nuova) that was manufactured at the Fiat facility in Torino during 1960. Over the past five years, this little Fiat has been restored by a mechanical engineer to the most exacting standards and includes upgrades that enable it, not only to look superb but also providing performance enhancements, whilst being able to easily revert to the standard specification of the original car if required.
The shell was completely stripped by acid dipping, repaired as required and re-dipped and E-coated. To finish, the shell was painted in 209 Avorio Delhi and protected with extra zinc rich paint on the undersides with Dinotrol cavity wax applied where necessary. Mechanically, extra power is provided by the addition of a later fully rebuilt 695cc twin carburettor Fiat 126 unit mated to a specially converted Fiat five speed gearbox. The engine was built with a Panda 30 cylinder head and Corrello Ferrari Dino custom rods. (The original, matching numbers engine and gearbox are retained and are included in the sale). To accommodate the extra power, the suspension, steering and braking systems have been overhauled to the same exacting standards and include coil over adjustable shock absorbers all round, custom twin pot calipers and discs to the front with later 500F brakes and suspension to the rear together with custom made stainless steel steering track rod ends. Comfort is provided for passengers with a handmade, Italian red hide interior with red Wilton A1 grade carpets with matching edging. The full length sunroof is trimmed with a lined Burgundy German Mohair material. However it is with the small details that this Fiat really shines through in a spectacular manner. The rare Marchal headlights, restored by Vintage Headlight Restorations, the interior’s rear view mirror and the finish to the aluminium door handles, door and bonnet trims are all nicely finished off with an early, and highly sought after, 1957 pressed aluminium badge to the front. In fact, everything has been rebuilt or overhauled to the highest standards with most fixings being of stainless steel, and in the case of the wheel bolts, titanium! This Fiat 500 N comes complete with its UK V5C registration document, history file, original engine and gearbox and will arrive at the sale with a fresh MoT test certificate.
The Nuova model, manufactured from 1957 to 1960, is becoming highly collectable and, in recent times, prices have risen to match their desirability. This example provides everything one would desire, performance, comfort and looks and is offered with an estimate that not only is very desirable for this model, but also provides the purchaser the potential to acquire one of the finest examples at a very reasonable level.
