Manufactured between 1967 and August 1969, the MGC was intended as a replacement for the Austin Healey 3000. The engines produced 145bhp and were fitted with twin SU carburettors. The bodyshell was revised around the engine bay and the floorpan, but externally the only differences between the MGB and the MGC were a distinctive bonnet bulge to accommodate the relocated radiator and a discrete teardrop to allow clearances for the carburettors.
The vendor advises that he has covered very little mileage during his ownership. The coachwork, although not in concours condition, presents well and looks attractive in British Racing Green and is complemented by a set of chrome wire wheels. Of particular note is the underside that is clean with sharp seam lines; this is confirmed by the reassuring way the doors shut, thus demonstrating the structural integrity of this MGC. The interior, finished in black, is also in good order with seats that show no signs of rips or tears and an attractive finishing touch to the interior is the leather rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel. The boot area is also clean and tidy and has a spare painted wire wheel stowed along with a spinner, hammer and jack; the boot lid having a chrome boot rack to enable further luggage to be stowed for those longer trips. The hood is in excellent condition and a tonneau cover is included. The six cylinder engine starts easily with choke and the drive is via a manual four-speed overdrive gearbox. The history file includes a V5C registration document, invoices, a selection of MG Owner’s Club magazines and a very useful Leyland MGC workshop manual. We are advised that this MG will arrive at the sale with a fresh MoT test certificate and the owner has overhauled the front brakes and also fitted a new coil and fuel pump. Offered at a reasonable reserve, this attractive UK supplied right hand drive MGC will surely find a lucky new owner.
