Known internally as the 964, Porsche's new generation 911 debuted in 1989 and was available in two (Carrera 2) and four-wheel drive (Carrera 4) guises with its familiar silhouette clothing a radically revamped platform. These re worked models were considerable more economical thanks to its deeper bumpers, smoother sills and flatter floorpan, high-speed stability was maintained by a self-deploying rear spoiler which rose above 48mph. Powered by an extensively reworked 3.6 litre air-cooled flat-six equipped with twin spark plugs per cylinder and a re-mapped Bosch Motronic fuel injection, the 964 claimed an impressive 250bhp.  These cars were fitted with a five-speed manual gearbox as standard and  most variants were reputed to be capable of 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds with a top speed of over 160mph.  Another of the German marque’s  superb and versatile sports cars.

Originally registered on 20th April 1990, this 964 presents in good order and has clearly been a well looked after example, confirmed by the 18 stamps in the service book. Finished in the striking combination of Guards Red and linen interior, this Carrera 4 drives exceedingly well. With an engine that bursts into life when requested and a gearbox that is delightfully smooth in operation, this iconic Porsche is a joy to drive. The previous vendor owned G229 YND for  five years and enjoyed owning her;  the  present owner is now having to sell her due to  lack of space.  Supplied with a V5C registration document and the original service book, this Carrera 4 is very realistically estimated given the huge demand for such examples.
