Lot 358 - 1993 Mercedes-Benz 220 CE
|Odometer reading||112,127 miles|
|Result||Sold - £2,240|
The W124 series Mercedes-Benz replaced the W123 models after 1984 and were in production through until 1996. The W124 was designed to last many miles and, as a result, awards were given and worn by high mileage versions. The front suspension used a separate spring and damper with a rubber top mount. The rear suspension of the W124 features the Mercedes multi-link axle introduced in 1982 with the Mercedes-Benz 190 series. Estate cars (and optionally, saloons and coupés) had Citroen-like rear self-levelling suspension with suspension struts rather than shock absorbers.
This 1993 W124 series 220 CE Coupé is offered with Tanzanite coachwork and contrasting cream leather trim, its original blue cloth trim is available with the car if required. Its specification includes anti-lock brakes, electric door mirrors, electric sunroof, power assisted steering, remote central locking, alarm, driver's airbag, alloy wheels and electric windows. This Mercedes-Benz comes with a stamped service book carried out by a mixture of main dealer and independent garages up until 59,968 miles in July 2000. From 2006, MoT records show that only 30,844 miles have been covered; its current MoT test certificate is valid until January 2019. This is a smart example of the marque and being built to cover high mileages, offered without reserve, this 220 CE Coupé is the perfect entry level into Mercedes-Benz ownership or, even, for just enjoying its ride.
