The Porsche 993 was introduced in 1993 as a replacement for the 964 generation of the iconic 911 models and was built until 1998. Regarded by many as the best generation of 911's ever produced from Stuttgart, this car was the last to use the air cooled flat six engine that had powered 911's for the previous thirty years. The 993 was offered in a number of guises and specifications during its production life including two and four-wheel drive trains, known as Carrera and Carrera 4 respectively. The Targa body was an option and the flagship Turbo model now offered four-wheel drive making it an extremely fast car.
Purchased on 27th July 1999, this Porsche 911 has been in the ownership of the fourth registered keeper for almost twenty years and is only being offered for sale by the gentleman’s family, due to his declining health. Presented in Ocean Blue metallic with contrasting grey leather, this attractive 911 benefits from the large opening Targa roof that retracts beneath the rear window and a Tiptronic gearbox. On a recent test drive in appalling weather conditions, our tester informs us that the Porsche started and ran very well and noted that the engine was very smooth with no leaks from the roof, despite the torrential rain experienced during the test.
Unfortunately, we have been informed by the vendor’s family that the service records have been misplaced; however, everything possible will be done to try and recover these records. Wishing the car to be presented in the best possible condition for the new owner to enjoy, the family have also told us that the Porsche will arrive at the sale with a fresh service and MoT. Offered with a realistic estimate, we feel that this is an ideal entry into Porsche ownership especially given the mileage (unwarranted at this time) and having come out of long-term ownership.
*Interested parties should note that the service book with records of servicing has now been found and may be inspected within the history file. In addition, the vendor has had the Porsche recently serviced, with a specialist, at a cost of just less than £2,500. A new MoT is also included with no advisory notices.
Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each Lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. All registration numbers, engine and chassis details are sourced from registration documents provided to Historics by the client or representative or HPI checks and buyers are to satisfy themselves as to the accuracy of these details. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.
