Lot 335 - 1997 Bentley Turbo RT
|Odometer reading||83,404 miles|
|Estimate||£16,000 - £19,000|
|Result||Sold - £21,280|
The Bentley Turbo RT was the last, rarest, most powerful and most expensive of the Turbo R line. Introduced in 1997, the Bentley RT came with the 400bhp turbo, 6.75 litre V8 engine from the Bentley two-door Continental T. It differentiates visually from other Bentley Turbo R models by its sport wheels, colour-coded grille slats and colour-coded bumpers. Performance was considered 'sufficient' with a top speed limited to 150mph! The car's base price was £132,000, being approximately £40,000 more than the Turbo R and was manufactured during 1997 and 1998 with just 252 units being produced.
Finished in Atlantic Blue Mica with contrasting Sandstone hide, this Bentley Turbo RT has quite obviously been very well cared for and cosseted; a point confirmed by the condition in which it is presented today. Originally supplied by Broughtons of Birmingham, this Bentley is currently in the ownership of the fifth keeper and comes with an extensive service history and build sheet that includes the inclusion of the Sport Mode Switch, giving this RT extra rpm and turbo boost. Every service is recorded in the service book up to and including the last recorded entry in July 2016 and since that last service, this Turbo RT has covered less than 1,000 miles. In addition to the service book, several invoices for works are recorded by renowned specialists from 1999 to 2017 and total in excess of £51,000. More recently, works in 2016 and 2017 have included an engine strip, head gasket replacement, new battery and replacement of both hydraulic accumulators and spheres; these works totalling just under £10,000. This fine automobile will be presented with its extensive history file, including specification sheet, book pack, UK V5 registration document and an MoT, with no advisories, valid until November 2018. These late special edition Bentleys are enormous value for money and with such low numbers produced, are becoming very sought after.
