Known internally as the 964, Porsche's new generation 911 debuted in 1989 and was available in two (Carrera 2) and four-wheel drive (Carrera 4) guises with its familiar silhouette clothing a radically revamped platform. Boasting a drag coefficient of just 0.32 thanks to its deeper bumpers, smoother sills and flatter floorpan, high-speed stability was maintained by the self-deploying rear spoiler which rose above 48mph. Powered by an extensively reworked 3.6 litre air cooled flat-six equipped with twin spark plugs per cylinder and a re-mapped Bosch Motronic fuel injection, the 964 claimed an impressive 250bhp and 229lbft of torque. Fitted with a five-speed manual gearbox as standard, most variants were reputed to be capable of 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds with a top speed of over 160mph.

Originally supplied by Lancaster Porsche of Colchester on 1st August 1990, this meticulously looked after example is presented in Guards Red with light linen colour leather interior and red piping. We are informed the previous owner was a professional car detailer, and this is evident when you assess what is believed to be original paint on every panel, apart from the bumpers. The paintwork presents with a good shine, the interior is original and also offered in good condition this is a genuine rarity on a car that is 28 years old. The car is currently owned by a collector who has used it sparingly, he testifies this 911 is extremely good to drive and boasts it would compare favourably to any 964 on the market. This example has the rare option of factory fitted air conditioning and the original steering wheel is offered with the car should the new owner wish to fit it coupled with an original tool roll. Presented with the car is the very desirable private number plate C4 TGA which is believed to be worth in the region of £2,000. Contained within the cars history file are the original handbooks, including a comprehensively stamped service booklet boasting no less than 17 service stamps from Porsche main dealers and specialists, coupled with this are numerous invoices and previous MoT test certificates. This lovely example comes with a current MoT test certificate, a V5 registration document and as a Targa model offers the great flexibility of open top motoring with its potent 3.6 litre engine providing plenty of entertainment. The values of 964s are still on the rise and therefore make this 911, in fabulous condition, a very desirable purchase.
