Lot 340 - 1964 Daimler 2.5 V8 Saloon
|Odometer reading||66,036 miles|
|Result||Sold - £10,640|
When Jaguar got hold of Daimler, they had a great 2.5 litre, V8 engine that Edward Turner had recently designed and had been putting into the enigmatic Daimler Dart. They discovered it fitted nicely in the Mk. II body shell and had the added bonus of being quicker than the entry level 2.4 litre XK units without out-shining the larger power plants. It's lighter than the XK-engined Mk. II therefore gets better fuel economy and handles better, although lacks the performance of the 3.4 litre and 3.8 litre. It has a desirable torque curve and has been described as a more refined to drive. It was supplied with the option of a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive or a more desirable three-speed automatic gearbox.
This automatic Daimler V8 Saloon was first registered on 3rd July 1964 and is presented in Westminster Blue with contrasting red leather interior. This example boasts the original carpets which are in good condition and the wood dash which is offered in fair condition. Accompanying the car is a V5 registration document, an MoT test certificate valid until April 2019 and a history file containing previous Mot test certificates, invoices pertaining to works undertaken on the car and the old log books. This is a well-priced and desirable V8 Saloon previously owned by a classic motoring enthusiast.
