With every generation of the Mercedes-Benz S class comes more pressure on the German manufacturer to produce the standard bearer for the luxury car market and with the W221 introduced in 2005, this was no exception. With every S-Class, technological and engineering enhancements are expected to produce a glimpse into the future of the motorcar and, in this instance, the new model offered as standard features such as an infrared Night View Assist feature and the latest Mercedes-Benz pre-collision system - something more commonly seen in cars some ten years later. It also featured comforts such as 14-way ‘multi-contour’ adjustments to the already sumptuous seats. In terms of performance, the S550 completes the 0–60 mph run in just 5.4 seconds despite having a weight of 2304 kg producing the best S-class ever; as your chauffeur will surely confirm.
The first W221 model released in North America and Japan was the S550, known as the S500 outside North America and Japan. The car on offer today was purchased new in Japan with a substantial list price prior to any options of which our example has many. Finished in metallic silver with black full leather interior, this S550 is in lovely condition and has the factory S63 AMG line body kit with 20" alloy wheels.
Further options include sunroof, upgraded Xenon lights to the front with LED lights to the rear, Harmon Kardon sound system, satellite navigation, CD changer and memory card reader, reverse camera, Bluetooth connectivity, TV and heated and ventilated seats – all helping to ensure this car is one of the most comfortable places to be outside of your lounge.
The history file contains all the paperwork from the export, UK V5 registration document and a full set of books. Also present is an MoT test certificate valid until June 2018 (with no advisories) and a full service record including the most recent one from November last year at 57,000 miles.
This stunning, low mileage, luxury car is fabulous value and a treat to both drive and be driven in; a gem of an opportunity to own the self-proclaimed 'best car in the world' at a fraction of the cost of a new model.
