The Porsche 996 was the first water-cooled example and ushered in a new era for the 911. The 997 had the opportunity to evolve performance and luxury to create what Porsche deemed as the 'ultimate sports car'. The most significant changes were to the interior and exterior styling. The 997 had larger 18 inch wheels and the engineering changes included slightly increased power. The car was technically similar to its predecessor, however more refined. A new S version was offered with sports suspension, sports exhaust and additional power from a slightly larger engine. The 997 became the most commercially successful 911 of all time and sold 100,000 units of its first phase between 2005 and July 2007. For the first time in Porsche history, the development of the Cabriolet version of the 997 led the design and engineering effort, with the Coupé following. Porsche applied the logic that if you start with the more difficult challenges of the Cabriolet, the Coupé version would simply be more rigid. Despite the additional weight, the cabriolet versions nearly attain the same performance figures as their Coupé counterparts. It has also received mostly positive reviews from the worldwide motoring press, with Jeremy Clarkson, a known detractor of Porsche cars, noting that the 997 will "make love to your fingertips and stir your soul."

This extremely well presented 911 Carrera 2S is offered in metallic black with matching black leather trim. This Porsche has had two owners from new and covered a mere 43,000 miles. The list price for this example was £72,840, but it was specified with optional extras such as PCM navigation and telephone, multi CD auto changer and multi function steering wheel, park assist, heated sports seats (a very desirable option for a convertible), home link and the Porsche crest wheel centres at an exorbitant cost of £107, all of this increased the total price to £76,433. Accompanying the car is a complete book pack with stamped service history; this shows a good level of maintenance, first with Porsche East London and West London then with specialists, Chelsea Carrera Ltd. This C2S has since been serviced twice more, the last was carried out at 41,028 miles in 2017. Offered with a new MoT test certificate and with four premium tyres recently fitted, this is a lovely example. It is presented in fabulous condition with good options, ready for summer motoring and don't forget it has the optional Porsche crest wheel centres.
