In 1978, Ferrari began its programme to redevelop the BB series. At first, the brief was to redesign the existing 512BBi, but revised safety and emission regulations led to Ferrari developing a complete new model. The all new Ferrari Testarossa premiered at the 1984 Paris Auto show. With blistering performance, striking looks, superb handling and yet more luxury it's easy to see how the new Ferrari GT car became the poster car of the 80’s. This model was face lifted in 1992 to become the 512TR. Well known Testarossa owners include, Elton John and Michael Jordon and our very own Edward Bridger-Stille.
Having spent many years abroad in a warm dry climate, this low mileage European specification Testarossa shows in superb condition. Factory ordered in the very best and timeless combination of Rosso Corsa on beige leather, this car still has a deep gloss finish as you would expect from a well-cared-for, low mileage example. The original beige leather still shows in near perfect condition with minimal indications of the cars use. It can also be noted that the leather dashboard in this Ferrari is in outstanding order, a further indication that this car was stored correctly over the years. The carpets feel fresh and clean in both the cabin and luggage compartment, where the original Ferrari tool roll will also be found.
Originally produced for the Italian market, this Ferrari was first exported to Kanagowa, Japan in March 1991, where the service booklet shows three stamps, one at 12,881km in 1995, another at 18,480km in 2001 and finally at 21,760km in 2008, before coming to the UK and its current vendor. This example further benefits from a recent service and belt change by Ferrari specialists QV London in February 2017. The 4.9 litre, flat 12 fires into life with ease and on test still develops that intoxicating surge of torque. The clutch is relatively light as is the retro fitted power steering, allowing for an all-round pleasurable driving experience. This example also benefits from a stainless exhaust system of high quality which produces an amazing soundtrack. The original wheels on this Testarossa have been updated to genuine BBS forged alloys, the upgrade gives the car a more stable feeling on the road and offers a wider choice of modern performance tyres.
Presented with the car is an MoT test until January 2018, import documents and book pack are all in the History file. This is indeed a very low mileage and desirable example, attractively priced and we think well worth viewing.
