In February 2006, Porsche revealed their first generation 997 GT3 and, in common with all GT2 and GT3 iterations, most of the developments and upgrades were directly related to performance improvements on their competition cars and the associated homologation requirements for FIA approval. In addition to the new 415bhp, 3.6 litre flat-six with its six-speed gearbox, the vehicle pioneered 'zero lift' aerodynamics, meaning, at speed, the body shape created only aerodynamic downforce with no grip-diminishing lift and made extensive use of a racing-related version of Porsche's active PASM suspension system. This made it the first of the quick RS or GT3 versions to feature an electronically-adjustable suspension setup. An 'RS' version of the GT3 became available in October of that year weighing some 20 kilos less and this saving was achieved by the use of a carbon fibre rear wing, a plastic engine cover and a lightweight rear window made from the same material. A slightly wider track was concealed in the muscular rear end provided by the Carrera 4 shell, aiding grip and stability at the expense of a little bit more drag, however, the reduction in weight to 1,375kg resulted in an improved power to weight ratio of 300bhp/ton.

This lefthand drive, European specification, 2008 Porsche 997 GT3 RS was first delivered to Sweden before being taken to Japan and then imported to the UK in 2016. This is a Generation I car with a 3.6 litre engine producing 409 bhp. It has done 39,500 miles from new with a full Porsche service history and supplied with a valuable rev. printout showing the engine has never been over-revved, concluding that the car has never been raced or put on a race track.  The condition of the body is superb and it retains all its original paintwork from new due to the fact it has a clear paint protection wrap on it, a testament to how this car has been treated by its owner. Finished in Viper Green with Nomex bucket seats, alcantara gear knob and steering wheel, it is fitted with black RS alloys wheels with Porsche crested centre caps, yellow brake callipers and new Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres and checked with a recent suspension telemetry setup. Recently fitted with a new clutch, this lovely GT3 RS is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in December 2018 and the Japanese service history. This is an opportunity to acquire one of most desirable Porsche models in excellent condition and is a fast appreciating asset that should continue to climb in value.
