Lot 217 - 2010 Land Rover Defender 90 Custom
|Odometer reading||79,600 miles|
|Result||Sold - £24,640|
The Land Rover Defender was launched in 1948 and, incredibly, production only finished in January 2016 after a continuous run of 67 years. Outwardly, there is little to distinguish the post-1983 vehicles from the Series III Land Rover. A full-length bonnet, revised grille, plus the fitting of wheel arch extensions to cover wider-track axles are the most noticeable changes. Internally, coil springs offered a more comfortable ride and a permanent four-wheel drive system derived from the Range Rover featuring a two-speed transfer gearbox with a lockable centre differential. A modernised interior and a new series of progressively more powerful and modern engine characterised things under the skin.
Presented in Santorini Black with Nara trim, this custom Defender 90 has been upgraded and cherished by its current owner to complement the original Land Rover stance but with more modern day performance and comfort, much like although to a lesser degree, the rather expensive custom examples from Twisted and Chelsea Tractor company. The most significant upgrades include a wide Track Suspension enhancement with heavy duty springs and galvanised tubular turret tops, Pro-comp shocks, up-rated steering damper and heavy duty steering arms. The springs/arms and anti roll bars were all powder coated then poly-bushed. The wheels are wide track original D4 19"alloys with new 255-55-19 A/Tx5 and provide the desired aggressive stance. The brakes have been up rated with drilled and slotted discs both front and rear, this is predominantly due to the power upgrade with Twisted-style Performance which included a full stainless steel exhaust, oversize intercooler, new silicone hoses, a performance air filter, the EGR blanked and an ECU re-map coupled to the turbo tuning providing around 175bhp.
Further upgrades included a desirable Nas rear step, KBX front grill and air intakes, heated high back seats, optional electric pack and dashboard upgrade, two alarm fobs and the additional fold away side rear seats. The rear seats enable a near full load space or the option to be used as a four seat example. This 90 is offered with its V5 certificate and original book pack which includes a comprehensive service history and MoT test certificate until November 2018. As the vendor states; "you will not be disappointed".
* Interested parties please note this example has not been built or modified by Twisted.
