The G-Wagon, short for Geländewagen or cross-country vehicle, was a product of simple utilitarian engineering. Designed for one purpose and whose simplicity has now created such an entrenched fan-base that production is still on-going today. Demand came from all over the world as well as many exploratory trips including one to Siberia, the world’s coldest region and driving a standard model travelling 19,000km without breakdown in temperatures as low as -63°F. This Mercedes-Benz G-Class or G-Wagen is a classic example of the German-made UK edition cross-country, four-wheel drive sport utility vehicles. By being one of the few vehicles to incorporate three fully locking differentials, this makes for a unique experience on off-road terrains. Originally developed as a military vehicle, to be then approved for civilian use, its clientele of A-list celebrities and larger than life public figures proved it to be a competent mode of transport ensuring its consistent popular demand across the globe.
This 1980's model was registered in early 1986 with significant sums of money being spent on interior and exterior upgrades. These consisting of refreshing the paintwork, new 22" Wolfrace alloy wheels accompanied by low profile tyres, AMG body panels, high quality tinted windows and re-trimmed black leather interior including the door panels. This G-Class is accompanied by a good service folder compiled of MoT test certificates extending until mid December, 2017. Service books, a history file, HPI clearance and a V5C registration document are included and, with a low mileage of only 74,450 miles, this is an excellent example of the highly desirable G-Wagon.
