Coming from the vision of Russell Mexone, a professional mechanical engineer, who at the time of starting this build had already constructed two specials. This Jaguar special was produced and developed by him in the early 1990s using the basis of a Jaguar XJ12 5.3 litre saloon. Built over a number of years, there are letters in the cars history file detailing Mexone's correspondence with the DVLA asking for the car to be registered and retaining the donor cars registration number rather than a Q-plate registration. The letter also details how on the 5th April, 1993 the car was taken to his garage in Ipswich where it was completely stripped of the original body work and photographed at various stages. Once stripped it took 16 months building the car with much love and care, using parts from the Jaguar. His detailed letter proved successful, the car is registered on the current V5 as a MEX 52, after Mexone. He must be one of a very small group of people that have a fully road legal car named after them.
Documents in the file show that the car was purchased by Charles Perrin at some point prior to 2010 due to the many bills and invoices in his name which total over £20,000 including Perrin commissioning the hand-crafted aluminium body work. Work was carried out by Scottish body specialists CC Coachwork of Inverness with a quote of £10,000 for the body work alone. Under the high quality alloy body work sits the 5.3 litre, V12 engine mated to a manual gearbox providing exhilarating performance due to the cars low weight. Aero screens deflect the wind over the occupants while the driver faces a full suite of dials and a wood rimmed steering wheel. Side exit exhausts and twin race fuel fillers add to the competition feel. This one-off aluminium V12 special comes with a V5 document, a new MoT test certificate along with a file of bills and receipts. Guaranteed not to see another one on the road, this is a truly unique motor car.
