In 2002, a new variant was launched, named V12 GT or V12 GTA when equipped with an automatic transmission. It was essentially an improved version of the Vantage, its V12 engine producing 420bhp. Additionally, the GT and GTA chassis had substantially updated suspension from the DB7 Vantage models. Aesthetically, compared to the Vantage, it has a mesh front grille, vents in the bonnet, a boot spoiler, an aluminium gear lever, optional carbon fibre trim and new wheels. It also has 14" front and 13" rear vented disc brakes by Brembo. Production of the GT was extremely limited with only 190 vehicles manufactured worldwide.
Registered in September of 2003, this elegant GT started life north of the border; sold by Murray Motor Company of Edinburgh. After three service stamps with the supplying dealer before finding a home in England, Grange of Brentwood have serviced the car on an incredible 13 occasions since 2006. A Total of 17 Aston Martin dealer stamps with the last at 19,272 miles are stamped in the book. Every service is annotated by an invoice plus any extra warranty work carried out. Every MoT certificate is present in the history file to account for use and mileage. The history file continues to impress with a full owner's guide, fully stamped service book, both quick reference guides for car and navigation system, original DB7 Price guide card and 'DB7 GT' DVD. Majestic in Nero Black, this GT commands huge presence, both on the road and at the kurb with the deep metallic hue layered with a generous silver flake that shimmers beautifully upon closer inspection. The changes over the standard car have subtly optimised the balance of styling; a boot-lip spoiler, a redesigned 'GT' front grille and a lower air intake work alongside twin bonnet vents, not dissimilar to those seen on the V12 Vanquish, for better air-flow management. Vulnerable plastics and trim surrounds have aged well with minimal discolouration; fit and finish remains very impressive. This car is fitted with numerous options including the burr trim set, colour keyed steering wheel, GT Aerodynamic upgrade, GT brake upgrade, GT suspension upgrade, heated front screen, navigation system, sports seats, Tracker and upgraded 19" wheels. In typical Aston Martin fashion there is a considered balance of the very best traditional material married to the latest in-cabin technology. The burgundy leather remains soft and supple to touch with bolster definition and shape in particularly good order. Carpets and mats remain in first class condition with the headlining still tight, clean and free of marks. The revised quick-shift gear lever and racing twin-plate clutch enable the driver to maximise use of the increase in power; offering a faster change than the standard car.
The DB7 will always hold historic importance as the first ever production Aston Martin to be fitted with a V12 engine. The GT features a specific free flowing exhaust, with by pass valve, to promote a glorious exhaust note similar to that of the V12 Vanquish. Even considering the car's low mileage, the 435hp engine has enjoyed a strict routine of annual main agent servicing with extended warranty to cover all mechanical maladies. The drivetrain performs without fault and is a pleasure to work once warm; recent mechanical adjustments to gearbox mount and clutch pressure switch offer further peace of mid going forward. The optional 19" rims present unmarked all round and wrapped in Yokohama Advan Sport showing excellent tread depth and the uprated Brembo brakes display plenty of life and have always had the fluid changed, on time and as per manufacturer's instructions by the main agent. A superb example with exemplary and continuous history; this manual version is a highly collectible and worthy investment.
