The Austin Three-litre is a British saloon car that was introduced by Austin at the London Motor Show in 1967 and in July 1968, cars were beginning to emerge from the plant. The car was intended to be BMC's offering in the three-litre executive class and was originally designed in the early 1960s, before the British Leyland era. Unlike the visually similar, but smaller, front-wheel drive ADO17 range, the 125bhp engine drove the rear wheels through a conventional four-speed gearbox. The car used Hydrolastic suspension with self-leveling hydraulic rams at the rear and was praised for its excellent ride and handling.

To cater for its intended market, the interior was luxurious, featuring wood veneers and cloth headlining. It was very much in the spirit of its Austin Westminster predecessor, a large car with an understressed large-capacity engine that put an emphasis on luxury and ride comfort. First registered on 1st January 1970, this fine example is finished in Persian Blue and fitted with a manual overdrive gearbox with power steering. We are informed it was exhibited in a showroom for many years hence the very low mileage of just 32,000. The car has changed hands just twice in the last 32 years and is now showing three registered owners. Supplied with a V5 document and an MoT test certificate valid until December 2016, this rare and lovely three-litre is offered at no reserve.
