Introduced at Garage Francorchamps, Belgium in 1992, the 456 was Ferrari's attempt to produce a motor car that was somewhat different from their usual offerings. The idea was to generate the space and comfort of a Gran Turismo (GT) whilst being the most powerful 2+2 in the world. The 456 GT incorporated features familiar to generations of Ferrari cognoscenti with the front-mounted four-cam V12, rear transaxle, tubular steel space frame chassis, and all-independent suspension remaining, whilst an electronically-controlled adaptive suspension and a six-speed gearbox made its first appearance (an automatic gearbox was also an option). Power was supplied via the nearly 450 horsepower V12 that produced a massive 398 ft-lb of torque at 4,500rpm. Variable-ratio power steering, three-way adjustable suspension dampening, self-levelling rear ride height and a speed-activated rear spoiler ensure the handling is up to the performance. The interior was well appointed with features you expect from a luxury motor car. Aerodynamically efficient with a subtly beautiful curvaceous body, the 456 remained stable up to its maximum speed of around 190mph, a figure that made it the world's fastest production four-seater passenger car.
We are delighted to offer this example of a Ferrari 456 GT, with the manual gearbox, that may only be described as in excellent condition throughout. This Ferrari was initially delivered to Bahrain on 22nd April 1994, however, three months later, it was driven to the UK with its first service being undertaken at Ferrari Antwerp during that trip. A full Ferrari service history was carried out up until 2002 where it was exported to the Netherlands and placed into long-term storage until it re-appeared in 2015 and purchased by the current owner. Major re-commissioning works were then undertaken and included a cam belt service and four new original manufacturers' specification Pirelli tyres. These works totalled in excess of £13,000 and are a testament to the current owner's will to have a Ferrari that is correct in all details. Today, approximately 73,500km are indicated upon the odometer (equating to approximately 45,670 miles).
The coachwork is presented in Pozzi Blue and is in excellent order. Take a look on the inside and you will find the quality continues; the rich warm leather interior is elegant, simple and uniquely Italian; the electronic and automatic features working, as they should. The 456 also benefits from a full three piece Ferrari luggage set as well as having all the correct tools and manuals (in English). We are informed that this fine Ferrari is UK registered and will arrive at the sale having undergone a recent MoT test to give peace of mind to a new owner. Offered in stunning condition, this Ferrari 456 GT stands out with its perfect balance of aggressiveness, elegance, lovely colour combination and only awaits a lucky new owner to enjoy it to the full.
