The 308 GT4 was a ground-breaking model for Ferrari in several ways; it was the first production Ferrari to feature the mid-engined V8 layout that would become the bulk of the company's business in subsequent decades and was the first production Ferrari to feature Bertone (rather than Pininfarina) bodywork. The GT4 was introduced at the Paris Motor Show in November 1973 and featured angular lines entirely different from its curvaceous two-seater brother, the Dino 246. The styling was controversial at the time with some journalists comparing it to the Bertone-designed Lancia Stratos and Lamborghini Urraco. It finally gained the 'Prancing Horse' badge in May 1976 which replaced the Dino badges on the bonnet, wheels, and the steering wheel. The chassis was based on the Dino 246 but was stretched to make room for the second row of seats. The overall cockpit design was considered futuristic matching by external wind-cheating bodywork. The desirability of these Ferraris are quietly ballooning with prices, quite rightly, following suit.

Supplied new by H.R. Owen in South Kensington on 8th June 1976 and with just four former keeper recorded from new, this increasingly collectable Ferrari is presented in the extremely rare and original colour of Pino Verde with a tan leather interior, it one of just 547 examples manufactured for the UK market. Between 1994 and 1996, with an odometer reading of 5,350 miles, the car was restored by marque specialists, Italia Autosport, and there are bills, receipts and photographs that document the process. The car was stripped with all the glass out and all rust areas attended to, it was then repainted in its original factory colour. The current exterior condition of this 308 GT4 is excellent and has had a full re-spray with much attention to the chrome and arches in the past 12 months. The odometer is now reading 18,293 miles and, whilst not warranted, there are previous MoT test certificates that date back to 1991. The car is supplied with a current MoT test certificate, tool roll, history file and certainly represents good quality Ferrari ownership for an extremely realistic outlay.
