Lot 202 - 2007 Bentley Continental Flying Spur
|Odometer reading||40,922 miles|
|Result||Sold - £30,800|
The Bentley Continental Flying Spur (2006 - 2013) is the second Bentley manufactured since Volkswagen Group purchased the brand in 1999, after the Continental GT. The Flying Spur is essentially a four-door version of the GT, with a longer wheelbase and greater length for more spacious rear seating. The two models are similarly priced and the Flying Spur carries the same twin-turbo 6.0-litre W12 used in the Continental GT, for an output of 600bhp. It has a 0 to 60 time of a very impressive 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 195 mph. The steering column-mounted paddle shifters enable direct access to the six-speed gearbox when the ZF transmission is in sports mode or the car can be driven at a more leisurely pace in automatic mode. Twelve inches longer than the GT and sharing the same permanent four-wheel drive platform and twin-turbo 6.0-litre W12 engine, although it must be said the Flying Spur is not just about eye-watering performance, the cabin is whisper quiet at any speed thanks to the silky engine and the extensive noise insulation measures that extend to double-pane glazing.
Originally supplied by Charles Hurst Ltd in Belfast on 13th February 2007, they also carried out the first four services on this Bentley. Clearly a car that has been very well cared for, although she is currently due a service, this Bentley offers luxury and comfort in abundance. Finished in dark metallic blue with magnolia interior, the passenger compartment is the best place in which to appreciate the Flying Spur; it provides ample legroom for all four passengers with acres of leather and wood veneers and all the gadgets you would expect for such a capital cost. The stereo system was specially created for the car by premium British hi-fi manufacturer Naim, with 15 speakers driven by a 1,100-watt amplifier. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until February 2017, this Bentley Flying Spur is a magnificent vehicle to drive and offers outstanding value given the modest estimate.
