Lot 119 - 1986 Porsche 928 S2 (S2.5)
|Odometer reading||100,300 miles|
|Result||Sold - £7,840|
The Porsche 928 was a sports-GT sold from 1978 to 1995 and originally intended to replace the iconic 911, the 928 attempted to combine the power, poise and handling of a sports car with the refinement, comfort and equipment of a luxury coupé creating, what some Porsche executives thought would be, a more appealing vehicle than the compact and quirky, yet sometimes difficult to handle, 911. Their subsequent popularity has proved correct with owners extolling the quality of the ride, performance and ease of ownership.
This very striking example presented in Guards Red is one of the pre-S4 S2s, known as S2.5s, being fitted with the S4 larger brakes and four piston brake callipers. The suspension has revised settings, there are uprated shock absorbers, full leather interior and door crash beams.
This 928 is highly optioned, apart from all the standard features of the 928 S2, it has impact absorbers front/rear, a seat-heating system, a limited slip differential, automatic transmission and a widening of the track gauge on the rear axle with 21mm spacers inserted. Sports shock absorbers (front/rear) are fitted with an additional amplifier fitted to the sound system and an electric sliding sunroof.
Much has been spent on this powerful specimen including a professional rebuild following a CAT C insurance claim with the engine and gearbox fully serviced by SCS Porsche in May this year and a new stainless steel X-Pipe exhaust system fitted.
Earlier servicing covered replacement engine mounts, drive belts, fuel system, ignition system, engine management system, cooling system, lubrication service, brakes, replacement alloy wheels with new tyres, spoiler replacement and, finally, new carpets and a replacement Pioneer CD/RDS receiver. The end result is that this fabulous touring car is reported to drive faultlessly and presents very well for a car that continues to turn heads. Supplied with all manuals, old MoT test certificates, copy invoices from SCS Porsche and two keys as well as a current MoT test certificate valid until 31st May, 2017 and a Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche Cars of Great Britain Ltd.
INTERESTED PARTIES SHOULD NOTE THAT THIS CAR HAS BEEN INSPECTED BY AUTOLIGN AND PRONOUNCED FIT FOR THE ROAD. AS A RESULT IT HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM THE CAT C REGISTER AND A NEW HPI CERTIFICAATE WILL REFLECT THIS.
