Lot 244 - 1976 Lincoln Continental Mk. IV 'Cartier Edition'
|Estimate||£10,000 - £15,000|
We are delighted to offer this 1976 Lincoln Continental Mk. IV Cartier Edition, a rare surviving original that represents a great example luxury driving experiences of the 1970's. The whitewall tires, opera window, spare tire-hump, wood-accented dash, retractable headlight covers and Cartier clock complete this vehicle's luxury into one package. For the 1976 model year, Lincoln introduced the designer series where special editions Mk. IVs were equipped with colour, trim, and interior choices by famous fashion designers, all carrying the designer's signature on the opera windows.
These were Bill Blass, Givenchy, Pucci, and the Cartier. The Cartier's were externally finished dove grey paint with a dove grey 'Valino Grain' landau vinyl roof, red and white pin striping and dove grey body mouldings. The interior was in dove grey cloth or leather, leather in this instance.
This well optioned Mk. IV came with speed control, power windows, power locks and single exhausts. Another important feature was the Hydroboost four-wheel brake system. This example is reported to run extremely well and has been well taken care of. The quality of the care shows as it sits today in excellent condition. Imported from Arizona around 2001 means it benefits from immaculate chrome and no rust and latterly was re-trimmed in its original dove grey leather sourced from the original factory in Scotland.
Forming part of the respected collection of Mark Brzezicki, renowned drummer and founder member of 1980's rock band, Big Country as well as string of other session acts including Ultravox, Procal Harum, The Cult, Pete Townshend and Sting. His cars are only ever immaculate throughout and with just 36,240 miles recorded, represent an opportunity to acquire a rare and little used example forming the cornerstone of his collection for many years.
