Lot 206 - 1976 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider Veloce
|Odometer reading||49,351 miles|
|Estimate||£10,000 - £12,000|
The Spider designation for the open top sports cars originates from the word, speeder, a two person open horse carriage. The Alfa Romeo 105/115 Series Spider was produced from 1966 to 1993, remaining in production for almost three decades. Over that period, only minor aesthetic and mechanical changes were made with Pininfarina assembling the first three series out of the four.
Recently imported from South Africa, this righthand drive Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce, previously owned by the Chairman of the Johannesburg Alfa Romeo Owner's Club, is presented in Alfa Romeo Rosso with black leather seats and Campagnolo alloy wheels. There is evidence that the Spider was originally blue and has been over coated in its current colour. This has led to some areas of paintwork having reacted but look more closely and you will find a very straight and rust free Alfa Romeo. The interior has the rare option of leather seats that are in excellent order. The hood, although good, does have a repaired split rear window. The boot area is clean and shows that a new fuel tank has recently been added, however, there is not a spare wheel fitted. We are informed that this Spider has a NOVA certificate and has import duties paid and will arrive at the sale with an MoT test certificate and UK registration. The Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce is as popular as ever and with this sound and straight example, an important factor, being offered with a very tempting estimate, we feel that it represents excellent value in today's market place for an enthusiast to take to the next level.
Interested parties should note that, contrary to the catalogue, this vehicle is currently not in running order. The vendor has assured Historics that this will be rectified and an MoT test will take place, at his expense, following the sale. The car is also yet to be UK registered, however we are advised that import duties have been paid and all supporting NOVA documentation will be available on the auction day.
We apologise for any confusion/inconvenience.
