The Fiat 500 will surely need little introduction. Suffice to say that this little car became ripe for tuning with Abarth being a leader in converting these little cars into successful fast road and racing cars of the period. With genuine Abarth models now seeing some extraordinary prices, it is of no surprise that many have been converted to replicate these versions of the Fiat 500.
Today, we are delighted to offer this wonderful example of an Abarth 595 S recreation lovingly built by its Italian Abarth enthusiast. The base, a 1970 Fiat 500, is in exceptional condition being one of the cleanest body shells we have seen for some time. The seam and shut lines are excellent and the hand rolled, wider Abarth style arches that accommodate the four genuine Abarth steel wheels, are beautiful. The roof gutter trims are stainless steel and not the standard plastic items. The quality continues on the inside with the door cards, Abarth style seats and trim being excellent. The attractive and functional instrument binnacle looks pure Abarth and even the rear view mirror, has the Abarth plastic trim, unlike the standard model. The starter and choke levers are polished and not painted, also as the Abarth. Recently imported from Italy, this 595 S recreation is fitted with a Fiat 126A 595cc power unit and as so, replicates the Abarth 595 S displacement and is in excellent order and features an Abarth alloy sump. A file accompanying the 595 S includes an ASI certificate and a copy of the original Italian registration document. The vendor advises us that this Fiat Abarth recreation will arrive at the sale with an MoT test certificate and a UK registration document. Rarely do we see such an exquisite recreation that has been executed to this detail and standard, facts that the true enthusiast will surely not miss.
