The Mercedes-Benz R129 models were produced from 1989 through to 2001 and were sold under the SL-Class model name before being replaced by the R230 in 2001. The R129 was based on the shortened floorpan of the Mercedes-Benz W124 saloon and featured many innovative details for the time. The fifth generation of the legendary SL series of two door convertible sports cars featured a fully retractable hardtop that was marketed as the Vario Roof; a first for the SL class, although it had been available on the smaller SLK model since 1997. The flagship models were built by AMG in the form of the SL55 (a highly tuned version of the SL500) with each engine individually hand assembled and signed by the technician.
The F1 package enhanced an already formidable weapon, denoted by the term, 'P30 AMG Performance Pack' in the build specification, there are many pretenders out there but without 'P30' in history, walk away. The package includes the AMG Limited Slip Differential, AMG Compound Braking System, AMG Track-Calibrated Suspension (stiffer springs), AMG leather/alcantara Performance Steering Wheel and a top speed of 174mph. This immaculate 2007 example is the final edition of the model and highly sought-after and also benefits from the SL65 front end and vents. The interior has the Command system for audio and navigation as well as an additional 'Carbon Pack'. The vendor searched carefully for the correct car to include in his collection and ensured that the service history was up to date with the correct eight stamps and undertaken by Mercedes-Benz main agents. The Mercedes-Benz warranty is still in force until November, 2016 as is the MoT test certificate. A superb, low-mileage example, inside and out.
