Since 1921, the Bentley name has remained synonymous with prestige, performance and luxury. The 'Continental' designation recalls the Bentley Continental of the post-war period. The 'R' resonates to the R-Type Bentleys from the 1950's as well as the Turbo R of the 1980's. Bentley's 1980's resurgence relied exclusively on models whose basic architecture was shared with other Rolls-Royce products; however, the Bentley Continental R was unique to the Bentley marque. Despite the need to incorporate non-traditional features such as doors recessed into the roof, the result looked every bit a Bentley, albeit one re-stated for the 1990's. Needless to say, the performance was outstanding, the combination of the Turbo R engine in the new wind-cheating shape cutting the 0-60mph time to under six seconds and boosting top speed to in excess of 150mph.
This 1993 registered Continental R is finished in British Racing Green with a contrasting magnolia trim piped in Spruce Green and with Spruce Green carpets. The dark walnut facia, waist rails and centre console are synonymous with such a luxury marque. Aesthetically, a Continental R is a beautiful design but this example is further enhanced by the fitment of a chrome radiator grille and matrix. Supplied with a V5 registration document, a current MoT test certificate valid until November this year and a service history substantiating the low mileage, this represents excellent value in comparison to the price when new. To drive a Continental R is a memorable experience; this car represents an opportunity to acquire an extremely fine example of a superb motorcar.
