Lot 149 - 1998 Lotus Elise S1
|Estimate||£10,000 - £14,000|
|Result||Sold - £8,400|
The Lotus Elise is a two-seat, rear-wheel drive, mid-engined roadster conceived in early 1994 and released in September 1996. It has a hand-finished fibreglass body shell atop its bonded extruded aluminium chassis that provides a rigid platform for the suspension while keeping weight and production costs to a minimum but capable of speeds up to 150mph. The Elise was named after Elisa, the granddaughter of Romano Artioli who was chairman of Lotus and Bugatti at the time of the car's launch. The car represented a return by Lotus to simple and lightweight sports cars after several years producing the increasingly heavy and luxurious Lotus Esprit.
Originally registered on 2nd June 1998, this Lotus Elise S1 is a strikingly handsome car with the pearlescent blue/mauve paintwork complimented by beige interior. Described by the vendor as being a superb car to drive and with no known faults, this Lotus is supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 2nd February 2017. Series 1 Elise's have become very sought after and this fine example is sure to stand out from the crowd and attract attention.
