Lot 298 - 1989 Porsche 911 (930) Turbo Cabriolet
|Odometer reading||36,768 miles|
|Estimate||£65,000 - £78,000|
The Porsche 911 (930) Turbo Cabriolet is the only 'normal production' Porsche cabriolet to be equipped with the air-cooled turbo engine. Moreover, only approximately 50 righthand drive examples were built.
This Porsche 930 Turbo cabriolet was supplied new by the Porsche USA, Palm Beach, Florida distributor to its first owner who imported it to the UK that same year, after which it remained in the same family ownership. Built in 1989, it comes with the five-speed transmission only produced during that year. In 1992, the current owner of this wonderful Porsche sought to convert it to righthand drive and utilised the services of the most well respected marque specialist, Autofarm, to undertake the work. In fact, the conversion, having had no expense spared on it, is almost impossible to detect and the use of original parts throughout cost over £15,500. The standard specification and options include a G50 five-speed transmission, locking limited slip differential, shorter gear shift lever, two speakers on back shelf, velour carpet in the luggage compartment and seat covers in 'Raff' leather.
Presented in the colours of Zermatt Silver (metallic) and optional 'Raff' red leather interior trim, this 930 Turbo is UK registered with an MoT test certificate valid until 26th May 2016. Additional documents include a Porsche North America Certificate of Origin, Porsche Cars North America dealer invoice, an original owner's manual, a warranty and maintenance handbook, an original Porsche document pouch, stereo/CD auto changer instruction manual, service and conversion invoices and miscellaneous correspondence. We are informed that the car will arrive at the sale with a fresh service by a Porsche specialist.
Presented in excellent condition and with such low miles, this surely represents outstanding value in today's market place.
