The Fiat 500 was produced between 1957 and 1975 with limited production of the Fiat 500K estate continuing until 1977. It was designed by Dante Giacosa and, despite its diminutive size, the 500 proved to be an enormously practical and popular vehicle throughout Europe, capturing the hearts and minds of the public. Launched as the Nuova (new) 500, it was marketed as a cheap and practical town car.  Measuring only three metres long and originally powered by a tiny 479cc two-cylinder, air-cooled engine, the 500 redefined the term 'small car' and is considered one of the first city cars.

This 1970 example was originally sold in its native Italy and was exported to Holland in 1998, where it was restored approximately seven years ago and has since been used as a wedding car. The current vendor imported the Fiat to the UK in 2014 and has since carried out some work to the car including the fitment of a new dynamo and battery, replacement brake lines, a new spare wheel and the underneath has been treated with Waxoyl. The car comes with a V5 registration certificate and an MoT Certificate, valid until June 2016. Documentation from the Fiat's time in Holland is also supplied.

The 500 presents well in its original finish of orange with black interior and the odometer indicates a low mileage of 85,000 kilometres. These cheeky little cars are guaranteed to raise a smile and the vendor informs us that this example drives well.  Fiat 500s have enjoyed a huge increase in popularity over recent years and are an ideal introduction into classic car ownership, being cheap to run with excellent availability of spare parts. They also take up very little space!
