Lot 120 - Benz Velo engine.
|Estimate||£6,500 - £7,500|
|Result||Sold - £16,992|
An early Benz Velo engine comprising of the cylinder block, epicyclic gear-box, cooling tanks and flywheel. These parts were originally removed in the late 1930s from a vehicle owned by Harry Baughan, an engineer, light car and motor-cycle producer. Also an accomplished trail rider, Baughan then used this engine in his engineering shop to drive line shafting machinery. The vendor, who worked in the shop, purchased the engine in the mid-1970s and it has been dry stored ever since. These parts appear to be in very good condition and are now rare.
