Lot 310 - 1970 Benelli Sport Special 125
|Odometer reading||15,179 km|
|Estimate||£3,500 - £4,500|
Following the merger of Benelli with Motobi in 1962, a series of 125cc (54mm x 54mm) motorcycles were sold under both brands, marketed as the 'Sports Special'. Outwardly similar as the 250cc model, the 125 models were painted silver/red whereas the 250 could be identified from the silver/yellow colour combination. The four-stroke range was dropped in the early 1970's and replaced by a range of two stroke engines, unfortunately the company fell on hard times and was forced to close; however the famous Italian marque has been revived and produces high quality superbikes today. This example has spent most of its life in a private Hungarian Museum and is supplied with a history file and new MOT.
