The Chevrolet Corvette is instantly recognisable by the marque aficionado and non-aficionado alike. The first model, a convertible, was designed by Harley Earl and introduced at the GM Motorama in 1953 as a concept show car. Originally built in Flint, Michigan and St. Louis, Missouri, the Corvette, today, is manufactured in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The third generation Corvette, the C3, was designed along the lines of the Mako Shark II concept car and was introduced for the 1968 model year continuing in production until 1982. Engines and chassis components were mostly carried over from the C2 but the body and interior were all new.

The St. Louis built Chevrolet Corvette Stingray offered today is an early 1968 C3 model imported into the UK in 2014. Since its arrival, only a small amount of works have been required to ensure this American muscle car would perform as it should; these included a replacement alternator, new headlamp vacuum pipes and a full service. Power is provided by the 350 cubic inch L48 V8 engine and fuelled by the Holly carburettor. Drive is supplied to the wheels via the standard four-speed manual transmission and 8.5:1 competition ratio differential. The condition of the coachwork may be described as very good to excellent whilst the interior is also described as very good. On a recent test, the Stingray drove well with all the instruments working as they should; only the clock seemed reluctant, as if time has stood still in this classic American machine. The Corvette is UK registered with an MoT test certificate valid until 21st December, 2015.

This is a handsome motor car; its Tuxedo black coachwork and chrome bumpers, accentuating its flowing lines. In addition, further details such as the alloy wheels, tinted windscreen, matching black leather interior and new red hood, certainly add to the character. All this handsome classic American is doing, is awaiting a lucky new owner.
