Lot 233 - 2000 Ford Mustang GT Convertible
|Odometer reading||4,900 miles|
|Estimate||£8,000 - £9,000|
The Ford Mustang was brought out five months before the normal start of the 1965 production year with production beginning in Dearborn, Michigan on March 9 1964; it was introduced to the public on April 17 1964 at the New York World's Fair. It has since seen several platform generations and designs. Although some other pony cars have seen a revival, the Mustang is the only original pony car to remain in uninterrupted production over five decades of development and revision. In autumn 1993 the Mustang underwent its first major redesign in fifteen years. The fourth generation Mustang received new styling by Patrick Schiavone incorporating several styling cues from earlier Mustangs. For the first time since 1974, a hatchback coupé model was unavailable. For 1999, the Mustang received Ford's New Edge styling theme with sharper contours, larger wheel arches, and creases in its bodywork; although its basic proportions, interior design, and chassis remained the same as the previous model. The Mustang's power trains were carried over for 1999, but benefitted from new improvements.
This 2000 Ford Mustang GT Convertible was supplied new in the UK by American Car Imports of North London to Mrs Lamb, who kept the car until 2013 when it passed to her daughter. Fitted with the 4.6 litre V8 engine and five speed manual gearbox, it is believed that this Mustang has only covered 4,900 miles from new; the car only covering about 50 miles a year from 2006 to 2008 before going into storage until 2013. Finished in laser red with dark charcoal leather interior, it is fitted with 17 inch wheels and Mach 4 stereo system. This Mustang is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in May 2016 and a file containing old registration documents and a couple of old Mot test certificates. The summer is here and this is the perfect vehicle in which to cruise around with the soft top down.
