Lot 215 - 1992 Jaguar XJS V12 Convertible
|Odometer reading||52,000 miles|
|Estimate||£16,000 - £20,000|
The XJS Convertible, which first appeared in 1988, was considerably more than merely a coupé with the roof removed. The earlier 'T'-top cabriolet paved the way as the first open Jaguar since the demise of the E-Type in 1975, but this was to be the first full convertible and a strengthened sub-frame was employed in order to alleviate scuttle shake. Retaining the roomy cockpit space of the coupé, the new convertible boasted a useful shelf for excess luggage and all expected Jaguar refinements as standard of course, making for a very fine open grand touring car. The XJS was continuously developed during its 20 year production life.
This XJS convertible is in the eyecatching colour combination of red with magnolia leather trim and was first registered on 23rd June 1992. The ultra smooth and quite V12 engine purrs in a way only Jaguars do and 762PAR drives with no known faults. The stylish design of this convertible epitomises everything good about Jaguars and is testament to the design team from Coventry. The car has matured like a fine wine and probably attracts more admirers today than when she was new. Supplied with a V5 registration document and a current MoT test certificate, together with a history file; this model is very much establishing itself as a most worthy latter day classic.
